rotator cuff injury physiotherapy treatment

What is a Rotator Cuff Injury?

The rotator cuff is a group of four muscles in your shoulder joint that aids in stability and movement of the shoulder.

These muscles include the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, subscapularis and teres minor.

Because these muscles are fairly small and not prime movers, they are commonly injured in everyday activities. Injuries may result from repetitive activities especially if done over shoulder height, direct trauma to the shoulder or lifting heavy objects. People may develop rotator cuff tendinitis as a result. In severe cases when the rotator cuff is torn, surgical intervention may be indicated.

At Bridgwater Physiotherapy, the therapist can properly assess your shoulder and provide the correct rehabilitation to aid in your recovery.

In addition we provide post-operative rehabilitation following all types of shoulder surgeries (arthroscopic or open surgeries).

Having many years of experience in orthopaedics and sports injuries, we use evidence based practice and up to date protocols.
